INDIANAPOLIS – IndyGo’s “Food in Transit” is returning for its fifth year, beginning Tuesday, June 7. This program provides fresh, affordable and locally grown produce to current and future transit riders and will take place every Tuesday, from 2 to 5 p.m., through the end of September, at the Julia M. Carson Transit Center. The produce is provided by Growing Places Indy and the farm stand is made possible by the Department of Metropolitan Development’s Community Block Development Grant (CDBG) funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
This year, we’re offering a “Pay What You Can” option, meaning community members in need can pay $1, or even nothing, and still receive at least two items from the selection of produce that day. This option allows us to eliminate barriers and offer locally grown foods for everyone.
