INDIANAPOLIS — The IndyGo Foundation is proud to partner with IndyGo to extend Bus Pass Grants to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations for the third year.
Through the Bus Pass Grants program, nonprofit organizations can apply for transportation funding through an annual competitive grant process. Applications will be accepted from Monday, July 10, to Sunday, July 30. Grants are expected to be awarded in January 2024.
Last year, the Foundation awarded 27,000 bus passes to 79 local nonprofits to increase accessibility to public transportation for Marion County residents. This was the largest number of passes distributed since the program’s inception in 2021. Having partnerships with more than 160 nonprofits, the Foundation is excited to see the reach this year’s grant round will have on the Marion County community.
“The Bus Pass Grants initiative was the IndyGo Foundation’s first program, and it has been rewarding to see the program grow and our relationships with nonprofit organizations deepen over the past two years,” said IndyGo Foundation Executive Director Emily Meaux. “Thanks to the support from our partners, such as the IU Health Community Impact Investment Fund, we are pleased to open another round of bus pass grants for distribution in 2024. These grants are a tool for equity, ensuring the most vulnerable individuals in our community have access to affordable transportation.”
The IndyGo Foundation also offers nonprofit organizations a 50% discount on purchasing full-fare bus passes. Nonprofit discount applications are currently open and accepted year-round. The goal of these programs is to make it easier for nonprofits to assist individuals in their path to transportation freedom, including seeking employment, food, healthcare and other essential services. In addition to these resources for nonprofits supported by the Foundation, IndyGo offers the free and reduced programs to individual veterans, seniors, those with disabilities and students through IndyGo.
These fare assistance programs are supported by the IndyGo Foundation’s Mobility Access Fund in partnership with IndyGo. Donations can be made to support these programs online here. To learn more or apply for bus pass grants or discounts, see the IndyGo Foundation’s Nonprofit Resources Page.
