INDIANAPOLIS - IndyGo will host a public meeting and two open houses regarding the Purple Line rapid transit project next week.

The public meeting will be conducted on Tuesday, August 18 at 5:30 p.m. The virtual public meeting is accessible to attendees by Zoom Webinar or Facebook Live. Access to the Zoom meeting will be available to the first 100 participants and allow viewers to interact with IndyGo presenters. Other participants will be able to view the public meeting on Facebook Live.

IndyGo will host two open houses at CAFE Indy (8902 East 38th Street). The open houses will be held on Wednesday, August 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Those with questions or who wish to learn more about the Purple Line project are invited to drop in. IndyGo staff will be present to provide project updates.

IndyGo staff will also be present at the Carson Transit Center on Thursday, August 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a “Purple Party.” The public is invited to attend to learn more about the project and enjoy music and giveaways. IndyGo will follow the guidance of health and government officials for public gatherings, including promoting social distancing, enforcing capacity limits, and requiring masks or face coverings.

The Purple Line is the second of IndyGo’s three planned bus rapid transit lines, featuring dedicated lanes, station platforms with level boarding, and offboard fare payment. The 15.2 mile Purple Line will replace and improve existing Route 39 local service. The Purple Line project will also bring infrastructure improvements to the area, including sidewalk improvements, a multi-use path connecting to the Fall Creek Greenway, resurfacing and repaving, and new drainage infrastructure.

Construction is anticipated to begin on the Purple Line in early 2021, with the line opening for revenue service in 2023. Learn more about the Purple Line at  https://www.indygo.net/purple-line/.
