INDIANAPOLIS – Professional coach operators will begin final practice runs on the entire 13-mile Red Line route starting on Sunday, Aug. 25 in preparation for passengers on Sept. 1.
New road configurations and pavement markings have been in place since July 31 on College Avenue, Meridian Street, and Capitol Avenue. Capitol Avenue now includes an IndyGo northbound bus-only lane has been added to the road in which drivers are yet not accustomed to. Drivers heading west need to stop and look both ways before proceeding with their trip.
For the safety of drivers, IndyGo encourages drivers to watch the rules of the road videos highlighting the new road configurations on www.indygo.net/red-line/.
As the Red Line is a service that is brand new to our riders and our bus operators, we expect there may be delays and occasional challenges for the first few weeks. Please be patient as everyone works to get comfortable with the system and ensure that everything is working together properly.
The full month of September is free for all Red Line trips and volunteers will be at stations, starting Sunday, Sept.1, to help answer rider questions.
