INDIANAPOLIS – IndyGo recently awarded three local not-for-profits providing transportation services Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding for the Section 5310 “Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities” grant program. CICOA Aging and In-Home Solutions, PrimeLife Enrichment, Inc. and Tangram are being granted the funds for lost revenue and reimbursable expenses in response to their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each agency provides essential transportation services for the Indianapolis community.
The amount each organization received is as follows:
- $165,000 to CICOA Aging and In-Home Solutions, Inc./Way2Go Transportation for lost revenue.
- $38,868 to PrimeLife Enrichment, Inc. for reimbursable expenses and lost revenue.
- $95,574 to Tangram for reimbursable expenses and lost revenue.
The purpose of Section 5310 funding is to improve and support transportation services for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Typically, these funds are only available for capital needs, such as transit vehicles. However, in late 2021, IndyGo offered a special call for projects focused on reimbursable expenses and/or lost revenue due to COVID-19 and new operating projects.
The special call for projects is the result of additional funding provided by Congress through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 (CRRSAA) and the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act. These programs were intended to support organizations in response to COVID-19, with the funds being intended for payroll and operations costs.
