INDIANAPOLIS — Beginning on or after Friday, May 3, Capitol Avenue will be under construction between 16th and 10th streets for construction. This work is scheduled to last approximately two weeks. The current Red Line detour for ongoing construction related to the IU Health campus will end as this detour begins.
During the new Capitol Avenue closure, IndyGo’s routes 18, 25, 28 and Red Line southbound service will detour using 16th, Meridian and 10th streets. Northbound service on routes 18, 25 and 28 will not detour. However, Red Line northbound service will detour using 10th, Illinois and 16th streets. (See detour maps below.)
A temporary stop will be available near 16th and Illinois streets for routes 18, 25 and 28 riders. Red Line southbound service will temporarily pick up and drop off passengers at the local route stop near 13th and Meridian streets, while Red Line northbound service will continue to be available at the 14th and Illinois streets local route stop.
