INDIANAPOLIS (JULY 22, 2013) – Heavy traffic around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway due to the Brickyard 400 Race will cause interruptions for IndyGo’s west side bus routes.

On Sunday, July 27 passengers should expect the following service interruptions all day on these routes:

  • Route 3 – Michigan Street: No bus service will be available west of Michigan Plaza.
  • Route 10 – 10th Street: No bus service will be available west of Eskenazi Hospital.
  • Route 15 – Riverside: No service will be available west of Riverside Park.
  • Route 37 – Park 100: A major reroute will close all stops on Michigan Street, New York Street, White River Parkway and Lafayette Road between 16th and 38th Streets.

At the conclusion of the race, the following routes will go on detour:

  • Route 5 – E. 25th/Harding: All trips will begin and end at Harding and 25th Streets, closing all regular Route 5 stops north of 25th Street on the westside.
  • Route 38 – Lafayette Square: No bus service will be available west of Georgetown Road.

Passengers should be reminded that Route 25 – West 16th does not run on Sundays, so no transit service is available to the track on Race Day, July 27.

As with all special events that disrupt normal traffic flow, passengers should plan ahead and allow plenty of time for travel to their destinations. As the race progresses, some bus service may be resumed if streets are re-opened.

IndyGo Customer Service can help plan trips prior to race day at 317.635.3344 Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Details are also available on IndyGo.net.
