INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 17, 2014) – Today at noon, a winter weather advisory goes into effect for Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Forecasts show that temperatures will hover just around freezing, which means central Indiana could see 3 inches of snow, mixing with sleet and rain. The storm is expected to cause a messy afternoon/evening commute with precipitation lasting until about 7 p.m.
IndyGo service delivery and on-time performance will depend on road conditions. This winter has brought several storms that have delayed and even halted IndyGo service. IndyGo will monitor road conditions and adjust on-street service as needed. Detours are likely for several trouble spots including areas with steep hills, curvy roads and un-plowed side streets.
Passengers are advised to proceed with caution for evening travel on IndyGo. In the event of dangerous driving conditions, bus service will experience delays. There are no immediate plans to cancel service, but customers should prepare for detours and delays.
IndyGo’s customer service center takes inbound phone calls for route information and real-time updates at 317.635.3344 on weekdays until 7 p.m. Passengers should anticipate longer wait times on the phone due to heavy call volumes that come with bad weather.
